It was my husband’s birthday in 2008 and our friends decided to treat us to a buffet. There were eight of us altogether and we chose a restaurant that served phillipino food.
After the wishing and birthday presents we attacked the food. I was at par with the guys where appetite was concerned and I was happy about it. We have to get our money’s worth.
Putting embarrassment aside I made quite a few trips to the spread. After the more than satisfying dinner they insisted we adjourned to their place for coffee. Back at the house one of the guys who was the closest to me got a tiny bit tipsy.
In that state he started questioning my husband why he wouldn’t control my eating!
Yes,you read correctly. It was one of the most embarassing moments of my life that lasted a full 20 minutes. While I sat there dumbfounded, that guy pointed out that his girlfriend and sister only had 2 helpings while I was unstoppable.
He practically accused my husband for my overweight condition as though I didn’t exist. The worst part was he was genuinely concerned for me.
After that his sister chased him away and tried to console me by saying I was proportionately overweight all-over while she, despite being slim had a flabby tummy, which as you can imagine only served to make me feel worse.
I put up a brave front until I got home and though I was inconsolable until the next day, I couldn’t get upset with him or his sister because I knew they meant well.
Anyway after I lost most of the weight in Malaysia,I did go on webcam to show them the new me and received all the praises. Sometimes we don’t know how people perceive us until something like this happens.
