I’m writing this right after my first workout with Jillian’s 30-day Shred in months.  I used to workout to this video about 3 months back but had to stop when my knee pain got pretty much unbearable.

Since my knee has been alright for sometime,I thought today should be ‘face Jillian day’and boy did she live up to her name of being television’s meanest trainer.

I started out good but only halfway through my legs felt as heavy as logs and started trembling,and it’s just a 20-minute workout mind you.  I expected to fair better since I do 40-minute high-intensity cardios  but I guess my fitness level has dropped in these past months.

Despite cheating a little here and there,I still took a beating.  It took me 10 minutes to catch my breath alone and I suspect tomorrow I’m going to be moving slo-mo.

The 30-day Shred is a circuit training video which combines cardio and strength movements.  It has three levels of intensity that you can choose from.  Two girls do the workout with Jillian.  One goes at a higher intensity while the other takes it just a little bit easy.

I attempted Level 1 and couldn’t even keep up with the girl who does the lower intensity.  I think I only went down 1 inch for the push-ups.  In two months time I should be going all the way down…I hope!

I’m determined to conquer level 3 and do it as well as Jillian.  That woman is a BEAST!

  • I'm not up to facing HER yet! I started my walking today. Went for 3 rounds around my block with my dog. Kinda panted and sweated. I used to be able to walk 5 rounds effortlessly. But I know I'll get there soon. I'm thinking about starting my workout with Biggest Loser Bob's exercise video tomorrow. OK. I'm not thinking. I'm gonna do it!

    Hi Shamala,i just stumbled upon your blog and have just started reading your very interesting weight loss journey. I am about the same weight as you now,and still have a bit to go (aiming for 50kg ideally..). I also have started Gillian's 30 day shred and it's been about a month now and it's still as tough as ever.. May I know what other DVDs you work out to? I'm alternating that with the Biggest Loser cardio mix workout which is a tad easier than Gillian's killer shred!

    • Haha…killer shred huh! I think Jillian should seriously consider renaming her video. I'm so impressed that you have continued the 30-day shred for a month…the results must be amazing. I can't get past level 1 and i'm not moving to level 2 until i'm able to do complete push-ups on the toes.

      I workout to a host of dvd's Nadiah. In fact I'm planning something interesting in the way I want to introduce them so I'm afraid you will have to bear with me a little on that. If you like you can follow updates to get notified but I promise it won't be long. Meantime keep going Nadiah…you will definitely reach your goal…especially if you're doing JILLIAN !!!
