The Biggest Loser Asia Season 2 Episode 9 Recap…
Obviously this episode opened with dissension among the red team members. Lori being upset over the fact that Fish,Genghis and Nai formed an alliance is understandable. I would be too,but her blow-up really wasn’t necessary. There is nothing you can do when you’re not part of an alliance. In a game where you’re fighting to keep yourself in,there is no right or wrong, especially when game rules are not being broken.
However it was great that Kristy didn’t take sides and worked towards bringing the team together which I think she managed to and it showed during the elimination vote-out where Genghis stood by arch-enemy Lori.
On the other side,it was black-slapping camaraderie all around as Dave and the blue team celebrated their win. I think it was the first time I ever saw Dave Nuku excited. He had a continuous grin plastered on his face. Their team bonding was short-lived as this was the week where the game broke into singles. It was announced as they went into the Gatorade challenge. The only two contestants who even managed to finish the challenge were Nai and Raj who came in first and second respectively. Running on sand collecting Gatorade bottles didn’t seem that easy and once Jonathan aka Jon gave up,it wasn’t long before the rest who didn’t finish the race joined him.
Nai won immunity and a make-over at Singapore’s The Studio as the reward. Sadly, the make-over reward was passed-on to Fish. Personally I would have liked to see Nai enjoy both his prizes. Seeing Fish at the photo shoot didn’t really give one the feeling of watching someone reaping the benefits of their effort but it was a consolation that she is a top contender. It is important that the show restrict this kind of prize give-aways just like they stopped the voting fiasco that took place in season 1.
During this week’s training session, you could see contestants getting stronger than ever. Lori was very impressive and so was Genghis. It was interesting to see former Spice Girl band member,Mel B on the show (via video) promoting her interactive exercise video Get Fit with Mel B. It just struck me that the Biggest Loser show is really catching on worldwide and everybody wants a piece of it. I’m sure seeing a celebrity who’s known in almost every part of the world talking about exercise, would have motivated tons of people.
Going into singles, the weigh-in was different this time as the contestants had no one but themselves to rely on. In the Biggest Loser Asia Season 1,once contestants went into singles, only percentages from total weight loss mattered. This meant that even if you were the biggest loser with the highest percentage for the week, you could still end up below the yellow line if your total weight loss percentage was one of the lowest.
However this season, your place in the leaderboard is based on your performance for the week, similar to the US Biggest Loser series. Which means, you can be behind everybody else in total weight loss percentage, but if you managed to pull big number for that week, there still is a chance to remain in the game. It may not be fair on those who have been consistent right from the beginning but it levels the playing field and encourages each contestant to do better every week!
The Biggest Loser Asia Season 2 Episode 9 Weigh-In Results
Fish lost a mind-blowing 3kgs at this stage. This woman is unstoppable and she tops the chart with a weekly percentage of 4.17 and an overall percentage of 28.00. Genghis comes in second with a strong 3.12%. There have previously been some mistakes in my chart in total weight loss which have all been corrected here. Nai is in green as he won this week’s immunity.
During the elimination I had half-expected Genghis to vote for Lori but he proved that team spirit still ran strong at this point. Further more Jon could prove to become a bigger threat in the weeks to come. This leaves the ex-blue team with only two members against the ex-red’s five which doesn’t bode well for them if a former blue falls under the yellow line again next week.

It was Genghis who gave up 1st,running straight to Marion, then Lori, then Jon. He managed to collect 2 bottles,out-running Lori.
Really? I somehow remember it as Jon! Anyway will look out for it when the season repeat comes on. Thanks for your input mate
The more I think of it,I think you're right….it was Genghis who kept saying he was slipping….I really need a photographic memory to do my recaps!
