Going to 2-3 litres a day from nothing is a challenge.  Below are a few tips to get started on the forgotten art of drinking water.

  • Definitely drink a glass after waking up.  Your liver and kidney needs to be cleansed and refreshed.
  • Drink water during exercise as hydrated muscles perform better.
  • Drink a glass before a meal.  It suppresses hunger so you end up eating less.
  • Drink a glass after every trip to the loo.
  • Drink some water before going to bed as you will be spending the next 5-8 hours without water and it helps prevent night cramps.
  • Drinking water when you’re sleepy or tired refreshes you better than a cup of coffee.
  • Drink water when you crave for junk food.  It will reduce the craving so that you will consume less of the junk food if not avoid it all-together.
  • Do not drink too much water thinking it will zoom your weight loss.  Too much water causes electrolyte imbalances that will lead to chronic illnesses.  So keep to your daily requirements.
  • Drink purified or mineral water. Apart from containing important minerals,it also tastes very good and you will enjoy drinking water more.
  • Don’t drink tap water as it contains chlorine.  Chlorine is a life-killing substance that should be avoided at all costs.
  • Drink room-temperature water rather than cold water.  Even though cold water is said to raise metabolism as the water needs to be warmed up,it doesn’t assimilate into the body as quickly as room-temperature water.
  • Don’t drink your daily requirements all at once or divide it into 2 or 3 sessions.  Water should be drunk throughout the day preferably every hour.
  • Keep a water bottle with you all the time and sip from it all day.  Refill it promptly everytime it goes empty.

If you follow the above tips,not only will you drink water as you should,but you will also reach your daily requirements with no trouble.
